Take a stroll down memory lane through the music and stories that defined an American generation in the 1960's and 70's. The Summer Concert Series at HPR's Atherton Performing Arts Studio features live folk music from Peter Apo on June 8, 2019.Apo has been performing as a singer-songwriter since the 1960s, when he fell in love with folk music as a means to connect with audiences around social justice topics. He is perhaps best known as the co-author of "The Sovereignty Song," which has been covered by many artists. Apo's music hearkens back to the revolutionary music of the 1960s and 70s, presented through the unique lens of a Native Hawaiian activist and community builder. This performance is part of HPR's Atherton Summer Concert Series, which runs through September 7. Atherton shows offer an intimate listening experience, where there's nothing between you and the music. View the complete season lineup.  Sponsored by Ameresco. Select Atherton performances are rebroadcast on Applause In a Small Room, which airs Sundays at 4 p.m. on HPR-1.
